Legends in Northeast Minneapolis brings the goods at a great price.
QUICK LINKS
THE STORY
Legends’ Thursday-night specials say it all: Large mugs of beer at low prices and wings for 50 cents apiece. This is a place that is built to deliver high quantities of affordable food and drink options. It’s not fancy, but it doesn’t need to be. Judging by the crowd, the deals are good enough to attract scores of nearby Dinkytowners to abandon collegeville and head over – just a 10-minute ride on the number 2 bus. So how were they? The saucy bossies. The crispy-crispies. (I made these names up, but who knows, maybe they’ll catch on! What’s your pet name for wings?)
Before we get into it though, let’s talk about wing specials like this one. Like any red-blooded wing fans, we love a good deal. Who wouldn’t? At the same time, we recognize that if a cook is pumping out a much higher volume than usual quality can be compromised. Hypothetically, if the quality of wings drop, though, is it really a deal? Or are you just being charged fairly for a different product? What do you think? Please comment with your thoughts below!
All of that said, it didn’t prove to be an issue at Legends. Their classic wings were nearly perfect. Classic buffalo flavor, crispy skin, and juicy chicken, all served hot and fresh on a very busy wing night (Check the photo gallery for one picture of some major wing fans with a table FULL of the crispy-crispies…). Some tasters reported dryness and maybe some desired adjustment of the butter-to-Franks ratio, but we’ll let the high numbers speak for themselves. Honorable mentions go out to their diablo and spicy barbecue flavors as well, both very good if you’re looking for a break from the classic.
Consider us impressed, wing lovers!

Notes: I’m a sauce dog through and through and these were perfect for me! Still crispy underneath the buffalo bath somehow. Loved every minute of them! [Editor’s note: A “sauce dog” is a lover of extra-saucy wings.] |

|
Notes: In the delicate balance between saucy and soggy, Legends wings came up perfectly crispy but unfortunately dry. |

Notes: All around great wings, not much to say here! |

|
Notes:Great wings! Very crispy, juicy meat, slightly more spicy than usual. |

|
Notes: The sauce was lackluster and could maybe use a bit more butter. Then again, I tend to think all dishes could use a bit more butter. |

Notes: Perfectly crispy, a little tangy for my taste, but great spice level. Overall very solid wings! |
