Spring Street’s wings live up to the hype, and hold a special place in TC Buff Club’s history…
QUICK LINKS
THE STORY
While the majority of our buff-clubbers live in South Minneapolis, as history would have it, the very first TC Buff Club meeting took place within the dim-lit confines of Spring Street Tavern‘s back seating area. We had a notebook, a glimmer in our eyes, and a long, heated conversation about the proper way to score wings.
Well, the exact date of that dinner, and the notebook, have been lost to the sands of time, but our foggy memories retained one key fact: Spring Street makes some mean wings.
They come out hot, fresh, and in that classic green-and-white-checkered paper that (science?) must help the flavor because they did not disappoint. Sauce-Dogs (those who love extra sauce) will be pleased, as they are not shy about the orange stuff. Their sauce was extra pungent, with an aroma that will make your eyes water, but it’s not too spicy and their rich bleu cheese lives up to the challenge.
We did run into a few soggy guys mixed in (is this a presentation issue with piling the wings up?), but on the whole they were perfectly cooked. It didn’t hurt that everything was delivered with a smile by a sassy server named Elayne, who saw our beer pitcher sweating and brought out an ice bucket to buy us more time (see photo gallery below).
Get to Spring Street and let us know what you think!

|
Notes: I love these wings. Hot, saucy, and lots of sinus clearing. |

Notes: The sauce was ideal for a sauce-dog like me – nice and thick. If only there could have been uniformly crispy skin beneath. |
